Chihuly After Dark

Attended this Chihuly exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum back in September. All these shots were taken after sundown. There were many people there that night and virtually impossible to get some shots without some people in a shot or two. Since they were all long exposures, some blurry moving people are in some shots. I don't know where it's headed next, but if you ever have the opportunity, it's well worth it.

Three Amigos

Recently shot these 3 Seniors who have been friends since elementary school. The young man on the left is my son. In a matter of months these guys will all head in different directions as most friends do at this stage in life. It's kind of sad in many ways that friends part company, but exciting as well knowing all the possibilities and new experiences that lie ahead. This shot just begged for a vintage antique effect, so here it is. I hope you like it. I certainly do.

Cold Front Coming

Western bank of the Brazos River as the leading edge of an arctic front approaches and snuffs out much of the available light. Click on photo to view on black for the best view.

Capturing People

I like to shoot anything of interest, but I really like shooting people. This is a family I've had the pleasure to shoot several times over the last few years. Some photographers really don't care for it. The way I see it is that there are well over 6 billion people in this world, each a unique individual, each a subject all their own. So many people, so little time..............

Lola

One of my Dachshunds. Absolutely hates to be photographed ( Just like many people I know!). Shot this one with the zoom lens without her knowledge. This dog is one of the best natured animals I have ever seen. She is an absolute joy and I wouldn't take anything for her.  Made this shot a bit more painterly which I really like.

Time Changes Everything

These are before and after shots of the same windmill shot in 2010 and 2011. We've had a really bad string of weather years. 2011 was the worst drought I've ever seen, even though a spring wind and rain event really did a number on this proud sentinel of Texas landscapes. 2011 was absolutely brutal, but we had good rains in the fall and winter which brought back the winter grasses and helped the wheat and oats sustain the cattle into 2012. Summer 2012 was another really dry one for us although some areas received decent rainfall. One 1.5" rain finally came in October and helped sprout some grass, but not a drop has fallen since and once again the ground is powder dry, even though the eastern half of the County is fairly green. When you're involved in agriculture, these are the really depressing times. Nothing you can do but hope and pray, with the assurance that eventually, time changes everything.

Dry Docked

On location of a recent wedding where I was the second shooter. I thought this was quite unique. The location has been around since the early 1900's, though the story goes it had been obscured for years until a new owner discovered it. The surrounding gardens and water features and other structures were built by one man. Pretty amazing.

Fall Color @ Beavers Bend

Recently spent a few days at Beavers Bend near Broken Bow, Oklahoma, to capture the amazing fall colors. I was not disappointed! These are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

Along the Trail

A little Photoshop fun.

Lost Creek

Just returned from a trip to Beaver's Bend near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. I went to capture some awesome fall color and was not disappointed. I arrived just at the peak of fall color. Enjoy!

River's Bend

A ship navigating the bend of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. This shot was taken through my Hotel window which gave it a somewhat muted effect and the late evening light was really nice. I love "hybrid" texturized photos so I gave this one a texture blend in PS and really like the result. I hope you will too!

Butterflies and Such

Butterfly Bait

Went to a butterfly farm this weekend. I was able to photograph several native butterflies, but was also amazed at the plants and flowers that attract these amazing creatures. These are just a couple. It was extremely windy and somewhat overcast, so capturing anything was a challenge, but did get some nice shots.
