Here comes the Sun

....and I say; It's alright...

Fly me to the Moon

"Fly me to the moon and let me swing among the stars, let me know what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars.....". No further explanation needed.

As summer sets in, finding great shots becomes a little more of a challenge. Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary is the challenge, and it usually means very early mornings, evenings and nights.

Springs Red Blanket

Spring rains have brought an abundance of wild flowers to blanket the fields. These indian blankets are the last of the color before summer's brutal heat. The spring rains came late this year, so blue bonnets were not as abundant as they normally are, but others were numerous.

Spring Skies 2013

After 2+ years of drought, the weather pattern has changed (maybe only temporary). Cooler weather has lingered longer than usual and storms have become more frequent. My city has recently endured a devastating tornado, but has received much needed rainfall. As a testament to the severity of the drought, even with 10+ inches of rain recently, our lake (main water supply) still remains low and on the farm, stock tanks are still lower than one would expect. There is a creek running through the farm which has yet to have running water. I guess the ground has been so dry, it is soaking it all in. I am definitely thankful for the rain. I have enjoyed the variety of clouds and storms to photograph. This year's weather has led one to keep an eye on the sky with anticipation of something good to capture with the camera, but I know the normal dry hot summer will be upon us soon.

Out on the Farm

Recently drove about 80 miles west to a friend's farm to do some night photography. This scene was the only thing worthy of the effort. Moon was 88% full. Top image was light painted along with moonlight. Bottom image was just a late afternoon seen with 4 exposures blended for HDR. I liked the color version, but thought B/W was better.

Going Up, Going Down

These guys can be a real pain around the house, but I love to watch them in nature.
