Time Changes Everything

These are before and after shots of the same windmill shot in 2010 and 2011. We've had a really bad string of weather years. 2011 was the worst drought I've ever seen, even though a spring wind and rain event really did a number on this proud sentinel of Texas landscapes. 2011 was absolutely brutal, but we had good rains in the fall and winter which brought back the winter grasses and helped the wheat and oats sustain the cattle into 2012. Summer 2012 was another really dry one for us although some areas received decent rainfall. One 1.5" rain finally came in October and helped sprout some grass, but not a drop has fallen since and once again the ground is powder dry, even though the eastern half of the County is fairly green. When you're involved in agriculture, these are the really depressing times. Nothing you can do but hope and pray, with the assurance that eventually, time changes everything.

Dry Docked

On location of a recent wedding where I was the second shooter. I thought this was quite unique. The location has been around since the early 1900's, though the story goes it had been obscured for years until a new owner discovered it. The surrounding gardens and water features and other structures were built by one man. Pretty amazing.
