Dallas Arboretum - Chihuly Nights

Recently went to The Dallas Arboretum to shoot the Chihuly Nights Exhibition. This was my first trip to this location and I was very impressed with the Arboretum. It is an absolutely beautiful area. To me it beats Fort Worth's Botanic Gardens. These are evening shots before sundown. Will post night shots later.

Lasers on the Bridge

Taken after sunset. There was enough light left in the sky so that a long exposure appears to be daylight. I was at an area "observe the moon" gathering at our Chisholm Trail Historical site. There was a 10" telescope and an 18" telescope. Waiting for darkness, I saw car lights going across the bridge, and decided to capture some light trails. This was an 18 wheeler cattle truck.

Dark Drive

A simple silhouette after sunset. Border and a bit of texture added. And yeah, the moon was added too.

Watering Hole

Another working windmill. Early evening shot converted to a digital illustration. One thing is for sure, it keeps the water trough full. This is a ranch of about 3,000 acres.

Ranch Sentinel

I had to deliver a photo project to a client today that lives about an hour away. The last half of the route has several large ranches along the road. Now these aren't small ranches, these are large 1,000 acre+ long established ranches that remain in operation. As always, I'm scanning along the route for anything of interest photography wise. The time of year in Texas, landscapes in general aren't very attractive. I have to admit, when I'm traveling along in the country, windmills always capture my attention, especially those that are still in operation. So, this windmill was my only capture of the day.
Now this isn't as it appeared out of the camera. I love vintage and retro photos as well as black & white.
Although, I do love straight color on those landscapes that are just awe inspiring. There just aren't any of those in this area. This one is just post processing fun. Enjoy!
